What is eDPI?

eDPI stands for effective DPI. It combines your mouse hardware DPI with your in-game sensitivity into a single number that represents how far your crosshair moves per inch of mouse movement.

The formula is straightforward:

eDPI = Mouse DPI × In-Game Sensitivity

For example, if you play on 800 DPI with a 0.35 sensitivity, your eDPI is 280(800 × 0.35 = 280). A player on 400 DPI with 0.70 sensitivity also has an eDPI of 280 and will feel the same in-game.

Example

Scenario: You play at 800 DPI and your Valorant sensitivity is 0.35.

eDPI = 800 × 0.35 = 280

Most Valorant professionals play between 200 and 400 eDPI. An eDPI of 280 sits comfortably in the low-to-mid range, suited to players who prioritise accuracy over fast flicks.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why does eDPI matter more than raw DPI?
Raw DPI only tells you about your mouse hardware. In-game sensitivity scales that value further. eDPI combines both, so you can compare your setup with other players regardless of what mouse they use.
What eDPI do Valorant pros use?
Most professional Valorant players sit between 200 and 400 eDPI, with 280 being a common reference point. Lower values improve precision; higher values help with fast flicks and close-range play.
How do I change my DPI?
DPI is set in your mouse software (e.g. Logitech G Hub, Razer Synapse, SteelSeries GG). Your current DPI profile is usually shown in the software dashboard.
Does this calculator work for other games?
Yes. The eDPI formula (DPI × sensitivity) is universal. However, each game scales sensitivity differently, so eDPI values are only directly comparable within the same game.
